TYLER

Wine is its own language, another prolific means of expression.

Sommlier   Educator   Translator

Tyler Kyle, teacher, sommelier and translator, was born and raised in Napa Valley wine country and first moved to Europe at eighteen where she began her language studies. It was France that first lured her into wine, sparking a passion that over time has led Tyler to cross several boarders, languages, and disciplines.

English, Spanish, and French-speaking, over the past two decades Tyler has taught and translated in luxury hotels, restaurants, wineries, culinary institutes, hospitals, police stations, colleges, ranches, and myriad government facilities. In addition to her dedication to language, culture and wine, Tyler believes that life is nothing if not movement and that flexibility is both power and grace. She combines the intellectual with the physical through experiential wellness and mobility classes in the Napa Valley and abroad.

Tyler’s love of teaching is rooted in her love of learning. She earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Southern California and a Master of Arts in Spanish from California State University Sacramento. She holds the WSET Diploma, is a Certified Specialist of Wine, Master-Level Champagne Scholar, French Wine Scholar, American Wine Scholar, and Italian Wine Professional. She earned her Mazé Method 500 hour RYT in Los Angeles and trained in Austin to complete her Comprehensive Pilates Educator through Balanced Body.

Tyler currently lives in Napa, Paris, and Austin.

Aaron Pott, Owner and winemaker of Pott Wine and Huis Clos Consulting

  • Tyler Kyle is a true professional that shines in both classroom and the boardroom. I have known Tyler for many years since we met as fellow instructors at Napa Valley College. When it comes to Spanish she is a true professional when it comes to understanding the diversity and nuance of the many cultures and traditions spanning from Spain to Latin America. I have taken one of her classes and we have supported each other's ventures over the years as colleagues. She's an engaging instructor, an entrepreneur, author, world traveler and speaks the language of wine. Most importantly, she's friendly and personable.

Bryan Avila, co-founder and CEO of Vintners Institute

  • Tyler knows exactly how to personalize and tailor content to the group she is working with, even if we all come from very diverse levels of Spanish language backgrounds. I felt so motivated by the way she tied in popular Spanish media for entertaining homework and how she made even the most tedious verbs somehow exciting. I always look forward to Spanish class with Tyler and I feel that I have developed more confidence speaking in another language because of her wonderful teaching ability.

Cassandra Bent, Horticulturalist and Former Grower Relations Representative at Domaine Chandon

  • Tyler is the consummate professional with international understanding of language, culture and sensitivities. Her translations offer a clear understanding of the subject matter with context to match. A true language genius and author.
